Last night I took my colony of Beavers to visit the New Wightlink ferries that are in Lymington, they are not yet operational but we kindly went on board to check out the new facilities and to see what we thought.

The Beavers were split into three groups and we got to tour the new engine rooms (much bigger than the older ferry), visit the lounge, see the fire fighting equipment, try the life jackets and go to the Bridge. The view down the river was sooo much better than the old ferry!

The Beavers throughly enjoyed the expereince which will count towards their Adventure Award.

The leaders who attended were impressed too with the considerations that had been made towards keeping other boat users safe and were particularily impressed with the stopping distances.

As the District Beaver Leader for New Forest South, it falls upon me to organise some fantastic events for the local Beaver colonies to attend. I have only been in post since March, and have run a Creative Challenge day on an Indian theme as my first event for the district which was attended by three local colonies.

This was a new event for the district and went really well and the enthusiam that the Beavers showed, has made us think of new ways to inject excitment into the activities we do as a District.

A Party at Serendipty Sams - October 08 (We have booked the indoor play centre for an inclusive Beaver session one evening, where all the district Beavers and their parents are welcome along.)

Paultons Christmas Visit - November 08 (we are meeting up with the County Beaver team for a challenge day at Paultons Park)

Indoor Soft Ball Competition - March 09. (Teams of 6 Beavers can enter for a chance to win the district trophy

District Sleepover - April 09. (The venue has been booked to sleep up to 120ish Beavers all together for one night)

St George's Day Hike - April 09 (We will be joining the rest of the district for a St George's parade with a difference, arriving by boat and exploring an old fort!)

Global Challenge Day - May 09 (A chance for Beavers to get their global challenge badge, activities include an African Drum circle and more...)

District Fun Swim -July 09 (The outdoor pool is going to be used for a fun swim session with parent BBQ, come along and get wet!)

District Camp - September 09 (Beavers are going to visit District camp for the day, to see what excitment and adventure lays ahead!)

Christmas Carol Service - December 09 (Every 2 years the Beavers get together to celebrate Christmas at a local church)
